Snow Day in Louisiana?

I was making fun of the possibility of snow in Louisiana last night. We were expecting less than an inch of snow that was expected to melt as quickly

as it hit the ground. Louisiana has snow maybe once every 8-10 years,

with our last snow event in 2008.

Was I wrong! It is snowing heavily and it is not melting.

The snow is building up on the ground, the cars, and our rooftops.

Surely this is a very rare event.

This makes me question, "if something is very rare, does it still exists?"

Of course it does. Doctors have stated, "Your daughter's symptoms

point to a particular disease but she can't have that because

it is very rare." I'm thinking, "are you serious?"

The fact that it is rare, the fact that it does exist makes it possible

for her to have it. Someone has it or it would not exist.

It only takes one rare event to change your life and your outlook on life. Even though it is a rare event, the fact that it is rare makes it exist. The

fact that it is rare also makes it more precious.

Luke 15:31-32 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Jesus told a story of a man who had two sons. The younger son

said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’

So he divided his property between his sons.

The younger son squandered his wealth in wild living

while the responsible son stayed and

cared for his father and his father's estate.

After time passes,

the father sees his younger son again; he runs to his son,

throws his arms around him and kissed him. The father then

says to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe; put a ring on his

finger; and sandals on his feet. Let’s celebrate.

For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’

The dutiful son did what was right and received no recognition

because he was already saved, he was assured his father's fortune. The father did not know if the younger son would ever come back to him, therefore when the son returned the father celebrated.

This son returning was a rare event.

This parable was told to assure us that even if we end up on the

wrong path, even though we sin, Jesus will celebrate

when we choose Him; when we choose to take the right path.

He will call to us when we are lost and He will joyfully

welcome us when we come home after being lost.

Our rare event may be to choose Him, to choose

the right path, to come home. It's not too late!
